Ihad the blond moment to beat all blond moments. You ready?
I feel that I am tech savoy in some ways. I can figure things out on Mac and PC’s that some people can’t. I know way more then my boss, even though he pretends he knows more or thinks he does. I like to pick things apart on a computer and figure them out for myself.
So eventually I learn things and are able to get things done quickly and cleanly. And how to get something done that others don’t know how to do.
That being said I had a blond moment with my new little netbook. I was going to go video chat with N (used to be F#2) in TX. But for some reason my wireless would not pick up my modem. I tried uninstalling the modem, reinstalling it. Unplugging it and what not.
I checked IP addresses, firewalls, made sure that I didn’t accidently set up a password or do something else stupid. Then I check my netbook and tried to get it all configured.
Nothing worked. I was pissed. I couldn’t figure it out at all. I checked my Air Port on my Mac and it could connect to the wireless connection but my netbook couldn’t.
So about 8 or so I gave up and stomped into the living room and watched Star Trek with Hubby.
Today when I got to work I decided to call tech support and figure out what happened. Did I click on something I shouldn’t have (which I have totally done too many times to count)? Is my computer faulty? Do I need to do an exchange?
So I was talking to this foreign guy, who I could barely understand him, and he calmly asked me if the light in the front of the computer was amber or blue. I said amber. He told me to flip the switch and it should turn it back on.
I felt SO dumb!! How could I have missed the wireless symbol on the thing? How could I have looked over that feature in the manual that I skimmed it last night?
So when I called Hubby to let him know, he laughed. A lot! I don’t blame him, but that much?
I told him ‘I admit it. I’m a blond. I had a really really really bad blond moment.’
And he continues to laugh and says ‘It’s okay because you are a cute blond.’
Yeah, that makes me feel even better…
And here is a little something for all you Christmas music lovers. This is a song I played a week ago in the church orchestra. Mind you this is not us, but it is awesome anyway. Also, it is quiet in the beginning, so be patient. Enjoy!!

I’ve done stuff like that too. So I can relate. I’ve also helped trouble-shoot computer problems. You’d be surprised how many times I heard embarassed silence when I’d ask, “Is it turned on?” LOL
Would it make you feel better to know that I went around for two days thinking that my new phone was broken because it wouldn’t hold a charge, only to discover that I hadn’t plugged my charger in?
I have done this too!!!! My daughters use my laptop all the time and musta pushed the button on accident…I went an entire weekend without internet before I could figure this one out LOL….
Oh hun I’ve done that exact thing before! Yea, I felt so stupid but what can you do? LOL
I’ve done stuff like that plenty of times it’s okay. Normally I don’t tell anyone though.
Oh by the way I sent out your disk today. Sorry for the delay I’ve just been a little busy lately.
HAHAHAHA!! Thanks for sharing.
Cute story. And don’t feel too bad – I think those wireless switches get a lot of people!!
